ArmInfo. The Armenian government plans to extend the state social program for the people of Artsakh until July 1, 2025. However, they will be reducing the monthly amount from the previous "40 + 10" thousand drams to 40,000 drams, with a subsequent reduction in the number of beneficiaries.
As Nzhdeh Iskandaryan, a member of the Council for the Protection of Artsakh People Rights, clarified in an interview with journalists, during a regular meeting with representatives of the Council, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan announced that persons aged 18 to 63 years will be excluded from the list of beneficiaries of this program. Iskandaryan noted that the issue of excluding students from the list of beneficiaries was also raised at the meeting, to which the government reprsentative responded by saying: "because they can combine study with work."
However, as the Council member reported, the Armenian government does not plan to cancel its decision regarding the reduction of assistance and the revision of the list of beneficiaries in the future, but is willing to establish professional groups to address issues related to social and housing programs. Iskandaryan mentioned that the Council has presented the government with a comprehensive package of questions, many of which did not reach a consensus. According to him, the remaining 11 demands have not been discussed yet. He noted that the Council will not cease its protests. "We have clearly stated our stance at the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister: these are not just social demands. We will talk about collective return, the issue of prisoners, and our struggle will persist. The format may evolve, but the fight will not halt," Iskandaryan concluded.
