"Civil Contract"  faction in Gyumri Council of Elders will issue a  statement on their participation in the Council`s activities -  Simonyan

ArmInfo.  The "Civil Contract"  faction in Gyumri Council of Elders will make a statement presenting its position on its participation in the Council's activities, as stated by the Chairman of the RA National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, to  journalists on April 15.

According to him, there is no point in making any comments regarding  the faction's further actions, that go beyond the competence of the  country's central authorities. Simonyan views the process of the two  factions with the most votes electing the mayor of the second largest  and most important city in Armenia as normal.  Any other options are  illogic and could hinder reform programs in the city. "I don't think  that the coalition will be able to ensure the natural work of the  municipality for a day or a night. I have already voiced my position  regarding Vardan Ghukasyan (representative of the CPA - ed.) and I do  not intend to change it," the speaker said, recalling his previous  statement that mayoral candidate Vardan Ghukasyan should be in  prison. The NA Chairman emphasized that there are criminal cases that  will eventually be brought to an end.
