ArmInfo. As long as there are people of Artsakh who want to return to their home, the Artsakh issue remains on the agenda, and the protection of the rights of Artsakh Armenians remains the responsibility of the Armenian people. This was written on his Facebook page by MP from the opposition faction "Armenia" Ishkhan Saghatelyan, reacting to the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the Artsakh issue.
Saghatelyan drew attention to the fact that the subject that regularly refers to a document that has no legal force and was signed in Artsakh in September 2023 is not the Azerbaijani authorities, but representatives of the regime of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, this time such statements come from the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, the Dashnaktsakan believes that such statements are aimed at publicly agreeing with another demand of Azerbaijan regarding the closure of the Artsakh issue. In addition, Saghatelyan believes that such statements are necessary to remove responsibility for the surrender of Artsakh from Nikol Pashinyan and try to shift it onto all possible participants, including the Artsakh Armenians abandoned to their fate and their legal representative.
"Even Aliyev does not refer to the illegal document on the dissolution of state bodies of Artsakh in the issues of the occupation of Artsakh. Therefore, the efforts of Aliyev's Armenian lawyers are in vain," the oppositionist emphasized.
At the same time, Saghatelyan expressed confidence that the current government in Armenia will not be able to rewrite history, noting that it was Nikol Pashinyan's actions and statements that caused the current situation.
"This is a responsibility that cannot be avoided. No one can close the Artsakh issue. As long as there are people of Artsakh who want to return to their home, there is also the Artsakh issue, and protecting the rights of Artsakh Armenians is our responsibility," Saghatelyan summarized.
On April 2, a meeting was held between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier. At a joint press conference, Aliyev stated that "the main obstacle in the negotiations was Armenia's desire to include the fate of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the peace treaty by January 2024." In response to a request from Radio Liberty to comment on these words, the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that "in negotiations with Azerbaijan, Armenia worked to ensure the security and rights of the Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, including the creation of an international mechanism to resolve these problems. After the publication of the decree on the forced displacement of Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the liquidation of Artsakh, this problem was removed from the agenda of the settlement of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."
