ArmInfo. The processes in the south of Armenia are directly linked to Iran's interests. This was stated by Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani at the conference "Hayk-Iran: a thousand-year neighborliness".
According to him, the processes around Armenia and Iran affect the interests of the two countries. "The processes in the south of Armenia are directly linked to Iran's interests, which is why Tehran's position on the unacceptability of changing internationally recognized borders is clear. For us, this is a "red line" because our destinies and security are interconnected," the Ambassador said. Sobhani added that despite the small border between Armenia and Iran, it is considered one of the safest. "Iran has never posed a threat to Armenia, and Armenia has never been a threat to Iran," the diplomat emphasized.
Speaking about economic relations, the Ambassador noted that the economies of the two countries are interconnected. According to him, Armenia provides access to the Black Sea for Iran, and Tehran can in turn open up access for Armenia to the Persian Gulf, India, and Central Asia. As for cooperation within the EAEU, the diplomat noted that Tehran views Armenia not just a country with a 3 million market, but as a gateway to the 200 million EAEU market.
