ArmInfo. New rules for enrolling migrant children in Russian schools may deprive them of the opportunity to receive an education, as stated by Tatevik Bezhanyan, an expert on the migration program of the Armenian Caritas organization, at a press conference in Yerevan on April 2. As the expert explained, changes came into effect on April 1.Migrant children wishing to attend Russian schools are now required to pass a Russian language test. Otherwise, according to Bezhanyan, they will not be able to continue their education. The expert emphasized that this rule only applies to children of foreigners. If a child has dual citizenship, they are already considered a citizen of Russia and are not subjected to this test.
Regarding recommendations for parents, Bezhanyan emphasized that they should never try to register children with forged documents. According to her, this could lead to criminal liability or deportation. In this regard, the expert urged parents to enroll their children into Russian language classes before traveling to Russia, as in order to successfully pass the test, it is necessary to answer 90% of the questions correctly. "The places and commissions that will administer these exams for children have already been determine Without passing the test successfully, they will not be able to study in Russia," Bezhanyan added. Touching on how one can legally prolong their stay in the Russian Federation, Bezhanyan clarified that if a family member is a migrant worker, they can sign an employment contract to extend the stay in the country, for example, of his wife and children.
Additionally, the labor migration expert noted that it is necessary to pay attention to the salary line in the contract, which should indicate the subsistence minimum multiplied by the number of family members. As Bezhanyan explained, this is necessary so that a person has the opportunity to extend the registration of family members.
