ArmInfo. The Armenian power-lifting team was awarded a special cup for the best result at the 2025 European Championship according to XPC (Xtreme Powerlifting Coalition), which was held in Poland from March 26 to 30.
As reported by the press service of the Power-lifting Federation of Armenia (PFA), the team, led by President and head coach Gagik Saroyan, achieved this impressive result. Armenian athletes competed against over 400 participants from 15 countries.
In the youth competition, Arsen Avetisyan (67.5 kg) and Misha Khachatryan (90 kg) both won 1st place in the bench press. Additionally, Misha Khachatryan secured 3rd place in the overall standings. In the adult category, Garnik Abrahamyan (82.5 kg), Artur Hayrapetyan (90 kg) and Ashot Antonyan (100 kg) all claimed 1st place, and Gevorg Karapetyan (110 kg) took 2nd place. As noted in the FPA report, in the deadlift exercise among adults, Gevorg Arakelyan (82.5 kg) won 1st place and 2nd place in the overall standings, while Gor Hovhannisyan (100 kg) came in 1st place and 3rd place in the overall standings. Robert Hovhannisyan came first in the veterans category. Angelina Chobanyan (67.5 kg) took 1st place among women and 3rd place in the absolute standings. In the biathlon among youth, Arsen Avetisyan (67.5 kg) secured 2nd place, and in the adult competition, Aik Afyan (100 kg) became the first. Afyan also set the 6th European record in powerlifting. Gevorg Karapetyan (110 kg) became the winner in the same category, setting the third European record. Gevorg Arakelyan (82.5 kg) took 3rd place.
