ArmInfo. Candidate for the post of mayor of Gyumri from the ruling Civil Contract party in Armenia Sarik Minasyan gives assurances that all programs for the development and improvement of the city will be continued.
"Dear residents of Gyumri, dear fellow citizens! Thank you for each of your votes, for each of your trust and respect. For us, a person is the highest value, and there is no place for threats, coercion, deception, cynicism and lies in our principles. We are grateful for your trust, which you demonstrated by gaining twice as many votes as the second largest party that passed the election threshold. The votes given to us will serve Gyumri and all Gyumreans. We will continue all our programs for the development and improvement of the city," Sarik Minasyan wrote on his page on the social network.
Meanwhile, Vahe Ghalumyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the Civil Contract party, believes that at the moment the party cannot single-handedly form the government in Gyumri. According to him, it is necessary to wait for the final results of the elections, and then draw the appropriate conclusions. "The results of the elections to the Council of Elders held in Gyumri show that our candidate Sarik Minasyan, who worked as the acting head of the community for two months, received twice as many votes as candidate Vardan Ghukasyan, who led Gyumri for 10 years," Ghalumyan said.
On March 30, elections to the Council of Elders were held in Gyumri. As of 08:00, the Central Election Commission of Armenia published data from 81 out of 82 polling stations. According to this data, the ruling Civil Contract party (acting mayor Sarik Minasyan) is in the lead with a result of 36.80% (16,938 votes). The votes were then distributed as follows: My Powerful Community Party (Ruben Mkhitaryan) - 7.94% (3,659), Mother Armenia bloc (Karen Simonyan) - 6.18% (2,844).
