Candidate for Gyumri Council of Elders detained: Ruling party declares that

ArmInfo. Karen Grigoryan, a  candidate for the Gyumri Council of Elders, has been detained. Lawyer  Arsen Babayan wrote about this on his social media page. Earlier it  was reported that the father and son of opposition candidate for  Gyumri mayor Martun Grigoryan had also been detained and are facing  accusations related to a case. 

Meanwhile, there are three days left until the early elections for  the Gyumri Council of Elders.  Representatives of the ruling  political force "Civil Contract", including the Governor of Shirak  region and c the head of the election headquarters of the Civil  Contract party, David Arushanyan, and the press secretary of the  Prime Minister, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, held an "urgent press  conference" in connection with "alarming cases recorded in recent  days, specifically, cases of obstructing citizens' free expression of   will, and a message from the Anti-Corruption Committee regarding  bribery during the pre-election period." As the speakers stated, the  current government will not tolerate  interference in the  pre-election process or violations of voters' rights.
