ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings for giving and receiving electoral bribes, as well as violating the ban on charity during elections. The reports on the alleged crimes, as reported by the press service of the Committee, were provided by the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Service of Armenia.
According to the information received, a voter was offered a bribe in exchange for a promise to vote for a proposed candidate in the snap elections to the Council of Elders of Gyumri. Information has also been received about the identity of the party member who is running for the Council of Elders and his authorized representatives. They, under the pretext of charitable assistance, promised to give money for the purchase of firewood, paving streets, purchasing clothes and other property.
The Anti-Corruption Committee, along with the Criminal Police and the National Security Service, is taking all necessary measures to clarify all the circumstances of the above-mentioned cases and establish the circle of persons related to them. The agency has also published an audio recording of the conversation.
