ArmInfo. A memorial plaque to the great Armenian poet Avetik Isahakyan was unveiled on the building at Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse 27 in Leipzig. He lived at this address while studying at the University of Leipzig.
In addition to this fact, the plaque also states that Isahakyan, together with Johannes Lepsius and Joseph Marquart, founded an Armenian-German company.
It is noteworthy that this memorial plaque features black tuff, a symbol of Armenia, which the poet loved very much. His house in Yerevan was built from black tuff. In addition, there is a QR code that allows you to watch a video about Avetik Isahakyan's connection with Germany.
The authors of the memorial plaque were architect-designer Hakob Iskudaryan and sculptor Ruben Nalbandyan.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Alfred Kocharyan, Director of the Avetik Isahakyan House-Museum Armenuhi Isahakyan.
This initiative was implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia with the Leipzig City Hall, the Avetik Isahakyan House-Museum, the Armenian Cultural Union of Leipzig and the Goethe Center in Yerevan.
