ArmInfo. There is still no understanding where and when the signing of the peace treaty is possible, as stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.
Answering the question about what Yerevan should do in conditions when after the statement on agreeing the text of the draft peace agreement with Baku, the Azerbaijani side voices new conditions and spreads misinformation about border violations, Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian side has proposed to the Azerbaijani side to start discussing the place and time of the negotiations. At the same time, he noted that currently there was no confirmation of readiness to start discussions on the timing and place of signing the document from Azerbaijan, on the contrary, they started putting forward conditions.
"What to do, you ask? We should continue to work, negotiate, look for worthy solutions to ensure lasting peace. There is no alternative to this. Yes, there is still no understanding where and when the signing of the document is possible. We are ready to get involved in the process as soon as possible," the Armenian Foreign Minister added.
In his welcoming speech, Mirzoyan said that he has discussed the situation with the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the peace agreement with his counterpart from Iran. In this vein, he reaffirmed Armenia's desire to finally establish peace and stability in the region. According to him, the signing of the agreed text of the draft peace treaty with Baku would be a significant step in that direction. Mirzoyan also thanked Iran for its position on this issue. "We have repeatedly stated that we highly appreciate Iran's clear position on the inviolability of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia. Just as for Iran, the inviolability of the border between our countries is of vital importance for Armenia," the chief diplomat of Armenia said. The Minister also noted that, among other things, issues on the international agenda were discussed at the meeting, and he, for his part, emphasized Armenia's readiness to contribute to Iran's dialogue with friendly countries.
