ArmInfo. The order of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia not to violate the ceasefire is a direct moral and psychological blow to the country's armed forces. This was stated on March 20 during a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security by Gegham Manukyan, a member of the NA from the opposition faction "Armenia".
According to him, the country's armed forces, within the scope of their authority, constantly refute the large-scale disinformation of the Azerbaijani side about alleged violations of the ceasefire by Armenia. "Against this background, Pashinyan's order puts the country's armed forces and the militias on combat duty on the border in a very awkward position," the oppositionist said.
In turn, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan noted that he personally perceived the Prime Minister's instruction somewhat differently. "The Armenian Armed Forces are always ready to resist the enemy's actions, but in this case, this is not the case. The point is that the Armenian side should not succumb to the provocations of the Azerbaijani side, which is quite natural, since we have much more important goals, for the achievement of which such calls for restraint are necessary," the head of the commission emphasized, adding, at the same time, that such restraint does not mean that there are omissions in the Armenian Armed Forces.
The day before, in his post on Facebook, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he had ordered the RA Ministry of Defense not to violate the ceasefire. "Armenia is moving towards peace, not war," the Prime Minister emphasized.
For several days in a row, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has been making statements that the Armenian armed forces are allegedly violating the ceasefire, which the RA Defense Ministry has been constantly refuting. The Armenian public is beginning to think that Baku is preparing the ground for a new armed provocation with its actions.
