ArmInfo. The authorities of the capital of Armenia want to solve the garbage problem together with the private sector. This was stated on March 18 at a meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders by the adviser to the capital's mayor, Anneta Babayan.
According to her, work is being carried out, in particular, towards the construction of a waste processing station. The process is taking into account the need to form a single ecosystem. At present, as Babayan noted, an investment program is being prepared, for the implementation of which negotiations are being conducted in parallel with international donor structures. It is also necessary to start a dialogue with the RA government so that the program is approved and can be implemented.
The main goal of the program is to obtain a sanitary waste landfill, which will be different from the current one. It is planned that as a result of the work of the new waste station, electricity will also be produced. In order to implement the project, 12 proposals have been received from the private sector, of which only 7 fully meet all the requirements. It is envisaged that a two-stage tender for the selection of a contractor will be announced in the near future.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan reported that 14 new garbage collection vehicles were purchased based on the results of last year alone.
