"I welcome the announcement of the completion of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. There is nothing to prevent the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which should pave the way for sustainable peace in the South Caucasus," Macron wrote in a post on Twitter (X).
Meanwhile, the statement by the French Foreign Ministry notes that Paris welcomes the announcement of the successful completion of negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and hopes for its early signing. "The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both states, should allow the South Caucasus to become a zone of peace, integration and cooperation with open borders for the benefit of the region's population," the French Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The German Foreign Ministry noted that the news that Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed on a peace agreement gives hope. "After decades of hostility and war, the fact that lasting peace is now within reach is important for the region and beyond. We call on both sides to sign the peace agreement," the ministry said in a statement on Twitter (X).
And the Spanish Foreign Ministry welcomed the news of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and expressed hope that this announcement would lead to the conclusion of a final agreement between the two countries. "Spain reaffirms its commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus," the ministry added.
On March 13, it became known that Yerevan and Baku had completed the approval of the draft peace treaty. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia noted that the time and place of signing the agreement have not yet been determined. According to him, Yerevan is waiting for the go-ahead from Baku. Touching upon the content of the two remaining points that were agreed upon, Pashinyan said that this was an agreement on the non-deployment of third-country forces and the waiver of international claims.
