ArmInfo. The First Armenian Front (FAF) football fan movement has issued a statement accusing the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) of trying to speculate on tickets for the Armenia-Georgia match.
"The Football Federation of Armenia is going down a dirty path and on a serious provocation, trying to turn the issue of providing tickets intended for fans of our national team for the upcoming fundamental match into a bargaining chip," the movement said in a statement on their Facebook page.
FAF notes that the stadium box office has told them that they cannot yet provide information on the fate of tickets for fans of football movements. The movement also found out that about 900 seats in the guest section of the stand, as well as an additional 1,500 seats next to it, have been allocated for Georgian football fans.
"In general, the demand for tickets for the match in Yerevan from Georgian fans reaches several thousand. This creates a risk that a significant number of Georgian fans with tickets purchased on the black market will end up in the stands. As a result, a record presence of fans of the opposing team is expected at the stadium. This will lead to the fact that during the game the voices of predominantly Georgian fans will be heard, and the Armenian national team football players will not feel like the home team," the First Armenian Front is sure.
"It is hard to imagine a more sad and unworthy picture. By not providing tickets for fan movements, the FFA will cross all possible red lines, sacrificing the team for the sake of another attempt to "stay in their seat." This style of work reflects their attitude to the national team and the results of our choice. If the FFA decides to partially or completely withdraw tickets for the fan movement sections of the Armenian team for free sale, all responsibility for the consequences of the game against Georgia will fall on the shoulders of the FFA leadership," the FAF statement concluded.
After the national team's defeat to the team of North Macedonia in October 2024, the team's head coach Aleksandar Petrakov was dismissed. However, fans began to demand the resignation of the FFA president, expressing dissatisfaction not only with the insufficient results of football teams of different age groups, but also with the activities of the federation as a whole. Despite this, the leadership of the Football Federation of Armenia responded to the demands by refusing to resign. In February of this year, protests by fan movements resumed, demanding the resignation of the head of the FFA. Thus, on March 1, nine FAF members were detained for three days for an action committed during the Pyunik-Ararat football match. They were charged with hooliganism.
