ArmInfo. The attitude and testimony that General David Manukyan demonstrated during the staged trial in Baku are the minimum that characterizes his integrity and determination. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction With Honor.
According to his post, various episodes in the life of General David Manukyan and especially his military service left no doubt that he would have proven himself worthy in any situation. "It is difficult to find words and formulations that will fully reflect the path of Manukyan's struggle and the determination he has shown at different times, since he is still in prison in Baku, and any topic can be used against him. However, the attitude and testimony he demonstrated during the staged trial are the minimum that characterizes David's integrity and determination. Freedom for David Manukyan and all Armenians in Baku prisons," the MP wrote.
The former deputy commander of the Defense Army, Major General David Manukyan gave "testimony" in a Baku court the day before. According to Azerbaijani media, he confirmed his participation in the First and Second Artsakh Wars. Manukyan also said that during the 44-day war, his car was hit by a Bayraktar UAV, the driver was injured, but he was not hurt, since he was 20 meters from the car. It is noted that Manukyan allegedly stated that the firearms he had with him, which were later found at his home, were registered with the Police Department of the Republic of Armenia.
The current and former military-political leadership of Artsakh were taken hostage after the Azerbaijani aggression against the NKR on September 19-20, 2023. For the second year in a row, in the context of the inaction of the international community, dozens of Armenian citizens are illegally detained in Azerbaijan, subjected to cruel and degrading treatment, torture. On January 17, under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Agayev, the Baku Military Court began considering the "indictment" against the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh on fabricated criminal cases. In the footage from the last court session, bruises and hematomas are visible on Vardanyan's face, which indicates that force was used against the philanthropist.
The country's opposition forces are inclined to believe that the current government has not taken any steps to ensure the safe return of the military-political leadership of Artsakh and other detainees, and has done nothing to prevent their capture.
