ArmInfo. Members of the ruling Civil Contract party stubbornly hold hands, refusing to defend the Armenian captives who are being humiliated in Baku, along with whom both Armenia and the Armenian people are being discredited. This is stated in a statement by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF) in connection with the ongoing illegal trial in Baku.
In its statement, the ARF emphasized that the actions of the head of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan, who in his "illogical and reckless statements accused the residents of Artsakh of staying and fighting to the end," play a significant role in the fabricated trial.
"The months of siege and resistance have disappeared from Simonyan's memory. One day he will say that those in Baku do not exist for him and will continue to work to convince the public that they are fulfilling the task assigned to them. But in reality, they do not want to take steps, assuring that they do not want to harm this process. In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in his theater of the absurd called "Crossroads of the World", has practically forgotten about Artsakh and the Artsakh Armenians," the ARF statement reads.
The party noted that the only time the Artsakh issue was raised was the half-hearted and superficial statements of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the loud statements at the Conference on Disarmament. As the ARF recalled, during the session Mirzoyan reported on the false trials of 23 Armenians illegally imprisoned, stating that they would not be considered properly and clearly ignored vital human rights standards.
"Mirzoyan stressed that the world continues to be an arena of terrible conflicts, forced displacement of populations and violations of fundamental rights. Therefore, the imperative of strengthening the UN's reliance on human rights, according to him, has become much more relevant at the present time. After that, moving away a little from the tragicomedy created in the Baku court, he came to the conclusion that Armenia is ready to turn the page on hostility for the sake of achieving peace," the ARF recalled.
Meanwhile, as the political force explained, it is not difficult to understand that the minister is actually saying the following:
The ARF noted that while Mirzoyan echoes: "Do what you want, we will continue to sing solos "about peace" in empty halls," disinformation continues to be spread in Azerbaijan regarding the Armenians in the court, using false information and manipulation, to the point that the Armenian captives "are happy with the conditions of detention and life is wonderful."
"Meanwhile, there is documented evidence that the former state minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, who declared a hunger strike, was tortured and there are rumors about the use of violence against other hostages," the ARF statement notes.
In conclusion, it is emphasized that the opposition front is making every effort to include this issue in the state agenda. Meanwhile, the deputies of the "Civil Contract", who claim "forget it" or "we will work on this another day," unanimously suppress such attempts, objecting that such steps can harm the hostages. "However, one thing is clear: the voice of righteousness cannot be silenced forever," the ARF summed up.
Current and former military-political leadership of Artsakh was taken hostage after the Azerbaijani aggression against the NKR on September 19-20, 2023. For the second year in a row, in the context of the inaction of the international community, dozens of Armenian citizens are illegally detained in Azerbaijan, subjected to cruel and degrading treatment, torture.
