ArmInfo. , French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies said in an interview with the Public Radio of Armenia. He noted that defense cooperation between France and Armenia in 2025 will focus on three main areas. Firstly, he highlighted the provision of defense equipment. The second area, according to him, will involve the training of Armenian military personnel in Armenia and in France. Additionally, France intends to provide consulting services to the Armenian Defense Ministry to assist in the reform and strengthening of the Armenian armed forces.
Addressing the stance of Paris on Baku's statements to terminate all arms supply agreements with France and return defense equipment, Decottignies said: "The official position of Paris is that defense cooperation with Armenia is ongoing and will continue with the same goal of supporting in safequarding its territory, population and sovereignty." At the same time, the Ambassador noted that the statements voiced by the Azerbaijani side are certainly cause for concern, but, nevertheless, today it is possible to say that there is a relatively stable situation in the region.
In this regard, the Ambassador emphasized that this is also partially due to the EU observation mission, which prevented any serious clashes, injuries or deaths on the border throughout the year. "However, there is still cause for concern, because without a peace treaty, the conflict may resume. That's why we are continuing our cooperation in the defense sphere and offering assistance to Armenia in achieving peace," the diplomat concluded.
