The current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as prospects for cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, investment, transport and transit, oil and gas, energy and humanitarian issues were discussed at a meeting in Tehran by Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Reza Arefi.
According to Azerbaijani media, citing the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the parties reviewed the progress of joint projects to establish automobile and railway communications, build transport infrastructure from the occupied territories of Artsakh to Nakhichevan through Iran, develop the North-South transport corridor and other projects.
Discussions were also held on improving the environmental situation in the Caspian Sea, preventing pollution and shallowing of the sea, as well as a number of other issues related to cooperation in the Caspian Sea basin.
