ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani independent news agency "Turan" has announced that it will be ceasing its activities in its current format. The statement was published on the agency's website. Note that ArmInfo has been cooperating with "Turan" since 1992.
In his address, the Director of the news agency Mehman Aliyev said, in particular: "Dear readers! For over thirty years, Turan News Agency has been a pillar of independent journalism in Azerbaijan, providing objective and reliable news in a time of political and economic instability. Established in 1990 - in the final days of the Soviet Union - our agency has remained committed to protecting the public interest through the difficulties of transition, war and reform.
However, today we are faced with an inescapable reality: due to ongoing financial difficulties, it is no longer possible to continue our information activities in the current format. Despite our constant efforts to secure the necessary resources to continue, the financial difficulties that have plagued us for many years have finally forced us to make the difficult decision to cease the agency's activities in its current format.
This is not the end of our mission, but rather a new stage of development. The information space is changing rapidly, and we understand the importance of adapting to these changes. In the coming months, we will work on a new format that, in addition to broadcasting news, will analyze the processes of the world, the region and our country, identify key problems and offer solutions. The future of modern journalism is not only to report news, but also to shape public opinion. We are deeply grateful to you - our readers - for the trust and support you have shown us. Your interest and participation have been the driving force behind our work, and we hope to continue this journey with you in a new and more meaningful way. While we are stepping back from our current model, we are not abandoning our core purpose - to be an independent voice that helps us understand an increasingly complex world. Turan's story is not over yet. Stay with us."
