Azerbaijan files arbitration claim against Armenia

ArmInfo.Azerbaijan has filed a claim document in an arbitration case against Armenia. This  was reported by APA with reference to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that the claim was filed on February 12, 2025. Azerbaijan  accuses Armenia of "violating legal obligations under the Berne  Convention".

On January 18, 2023, Azerbaijan sent Armenia a notification of the  commencement of the arbitration process. On September 15, 2023, the  composition of the arbitration court was approved, and on April 12,  2024, the first procedural hearing between Azerbaijan and Armenia was  held at the Peace Palace in The Hague.

It is noted that the lawsuit of Azerbaijan against Armenia is the  first interstate arbitration process based on the Berne Convention:  "Azerbaijan demands full compensation from Armenia for the mass  destruction of populated areas and wildlife"
