ArmInfo. Before the current leadership came to power in Armenia, the people of Artsakh lived safely in their homeland, enjoying their luxurious cities and peaceful villages. This is how political scientist Vahe Hovhannisyan commented on the recent statements made by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, who claimed that "if the people of Artsakh truly wanted a homeland, they would have fought for it." "The state of Armenia, represented by today's authorities, has left its soldiers and compatriots to the mercy of fate. The cynicism of these authorities allows them to shift blame onto others. Before you came to power, the people of Artsakh lived in their luxurious cities and peaceful villages, feeling safe," Hovhannisyan noted.
The political scientist emphasized that the Armenian government, by abandoning the population of Artsakh to the mercy of the enemy, is now urging everyone to "stay and fight", despite knowing that intense and heroic battles have been ongoing for two days. Hovhannisyan also pointed out that it is not the individual soldier who is fighting in the war, but the state that is sending them to the front.
"If Alen Simonyan, had not come to Aghdam to take a photo with grenades whether consciously or by mistake; if his "boss" (Nikol Pashinyan - ed.) had not visited Stepanakert shouting "Artsakh is Armenia and that's it"; if you had not arranged demonstrative feasts in Shushi; if instead of failing in 20-year negotiations, you had developed them in a positive way; if you had not provoked a war and turned the blockade process into the devastation of Artsakh; if you had not deprived Artsakh of political and diplomatic protection - these people would be living in their homes today," Hovhannisyan concluded.
