Ambassador: There is mutual understanding between  Armenia and Iran  regarding  Armenian-American strategic partnership

The Armenian authorities have clearly stated to Iran that the document recently signed between the USA and Armenia is not directed against Iranian-Armenian relations and emphasized that they will not take any  steps to harm Iranian-Armenian relations or the Iran's interests. This  was stated by the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, at a press conference in Yerevan on February 6.

According to him, there is mutual understanding between the  authorities of Armenia and Iran on this matter, and both sides are  deeply aware that bilateral relations are developing for the benefit  of the peoples of both countries. He added that this mutual  understanding enables to manage the development of processes and  strengthen relations. "Iran and Armenia have always managed to  establish relations despite the maximum pressure from the United  States on Iran," he said, adding that the document signed between the  United States and Armenia on January 14 is weaker than the previous  agreement between the two countries.
