ArmInfo. The East European and Transatlantic Network initiative of the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa organized a roundtable discussion on the security challenges facing the countries of the South Caucasus, in particular Armenia and Georgia.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Canada, the Armenian Ambassador Anahit Harutyunyan took part in the discussion and delivered a speech, presenting Armenia's position on the latest developments in the South Caucasus, the efforts undertaken by official Yerevan to establish peace in the region, as well as the ongoing obstacles and unconstructive position of Azerbaijan.
In this context, the need to ensure the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, including the right to return, the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and the protection of Armenian cultural heritage was emphasized.
Harutyunyan especially emphasized the active support of the international community, including Canada, aimed at establishing peace in the South Caucasus and the territorial integrity of Armenia.
Touching upon Armenia's relations with its closest neighbors and the issue of unblocking regional infrastructure, the Ambassador presented the "Crossroads of Peace" program. The Ambassador of Canada to Armenia delivered a welcoming speech at the event. Other diplomats, faculty and students from Carleton and Ottawa universities, and experts also took part in the discussion.
