ArmInfo. It is impossible to make a "bazaar" with the citizens of Armenia. This was stated by the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction "Armenia" Kristine Vardanyan in a conversation with journalists on February 1, commenting on the decision of the Yerevan City Hall to increase the fare for public transport from 100 drams to 150 drams, which came into effect today.
The deputy noted that if the social problems of Yerevan residents and guests were solved, and the transport worked clearly and on schedule, it would be possible to evaluate the application of the new fare for public transport. However, in the conditions when the city authorities initially increased the fare three times - from 100 drams to 300 drams, and then took a step back, indicating the figure of 150 drams, problems arose. In this situation, as the deputy noted, the deputies may remain silent, but residents must raise their voices against this innovation, especially in conditions when they have to wait a very long time for buses or trolleybuses.
On February 1, a new fare for public transport came into force in Yerevan, it is now 150 drams. The opposition in the Yerevan Council of Elders called on passengers to boycott this decision, paying the same 100 drams.
