Pashinyan comments on documents declassified by US State Department  and published by  

ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the publication by the Armenian service of , which presented declassified documents from the US State Department at a press conference  on January 31. Those documents confirmed that in the late 90s, Robert Kocharyan and Heydar Aliyev, had a direct  discussion, without intermediaries, where they agreed to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue through a territorial exchange - Meghri in exchange for Artsakh.

According to Pashinyan, the information presented in this material  was recently discussed on his social media post. He mentioned that  since 1994, after the ceasefire, the negotiations focused solely on  the return of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan. At that time, the  offices of the RA presidents,  reacted harshly to these statements by  the Armenian Prime Minister. In response to the criticism, Pashinyan  invited the presidents to a public debate on this matter, urging them  to take advantage of the unique opportunity to finish the remote  debates on the topic of .  The  former leaders of the country ignored the repeated invitation.  Pashinyan quoted an excerpt from the published report: he noted.

According to the Prime Minister, this quote is about the OSCE Minsk  Group Chairmanship from 1999 stating that the Nagorno-Karabakh  problem should be resolved without changing borders. < This is the  topic I was talking about in my previous post. After receiving  comments on the post, I extended an invitation to discuss that matter  further. And my thesis was that if you (former presidents of Armenia  - ed.) say that you do not recognize Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan,  then why are you giving a sovereign part of Armenia to Azerbaijan in  order to get Karabakh?.>  Pashinyan noted.

In this context, the head of the RA Cabinet of Ministers believes  that the publication of these diplomatic documents has closed the  topic for possible discussion with the former heads of the RA. the Prime  Minister of Armenia concluded.
