ArmInfo.Albert Bazeyan, the former Yerevan mayor, former vice- speaker of the parliament and former vice-chairman of the Yerkrapah volunteer union, accused of attempting to seize power in the country by force, called the trial against him illegal, stating that the court is biased and unfair.
"We do not accept this government, and it will be gone by the end of this year," Bazeyan said at a briefing after being removed from the courtroom "for disrespectful behavior." He assured that he had no intention of organizing an attack on the government building or implementing a program to eliminate Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, such actions would be futile, since the ruling Civil Contract party has a majority in the National Assembly of Armenia. Bazeyan assured that even if this happened, the party could again elect its "chosen candidate" for the position of prime minister to continue pursuing its political agenda.
