ArmInfo. Yerevan Bus CJSC is facing a shortage of drivers. At a meeting in the capital's municipality, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that since November last year, 90 drivers have been hired as city bus drivers, but this number is not yet enough, since there are still 343 vacancies. However, as Avinyan noted, if the current hiring rate is maintained, it can be confidently stated that the problem will be resolved in the very near future.
According to Beglar Kirakosyan, Director of Yerevan Bus CJSC, the company's staffing schedule was approved on December 30, 2024.
Prior to this, the management of the CJSC was waiting for the RA government's decision on customs clearance of the incoming vehicles.
Meanwhile, as the mayor noted, the capital's administration is currently following the path of radical changes to the ticket system. The main goal of the reforms is to improve the quality of service to the population, but in the process of work, routes have begun to be observed, the work on which cannot cause satisfaction. "All these issues related to the appeal to the government, the hiring of drivers, who could have been hired as early as January 3, should have been resolved much earlier. Moreover, already in November we actually received the required number of buses. Moreover, we even knew which buses and on which routes were subject to replacement. And here the question arises: why should the mayor's office deal with the problem of drivers, this is your responsibility, it is unacceptable when at the time of work we have a 30% deficit of drivers," Avinyan said, addressing Kirakosyan, instructing him to ensure the required number of drivers by the end of the month.
