Fidan: We hope that lasting peace will be achieved between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2025, allowing the region to prosper

ArmInfo. Turkey supports the steps taken by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to achieve peace in the region. According to Azerbaijani media, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this during a briefing for local and international media representatives.  According to him, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is also making efforts in this direction.

"There are only a few remaining articles in the peace agreement that Azerbaijan and Armenia are currently discussing. It is necessary to finalize them and sign the agreement. We hope that lasting peace will be achieved in 2025 and the region will prosper," he said.  The Turkish minister said that a window of "historic" opportunity has opened in the region for this. "I believe  Armenia is also acting in its long-term interests, and we consider Prime Minister Pashinyan's positive message in this regard to be important," Fidan said, commenting on Pashinyan's recent message calling for peace with Azerbaijan.  According to Fidan, Pashinyan "expresses a peaceful stance and contributes to progress in the settlement." "We continue to support direct negotiations between the parties without mediators.
