ArmInfo. There is always a risk of escalation until a peace treaty is a fact, as stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a press conference on January 8. At the same time, he believes that it is highly unlikely that Azerbaijan wants to sign a peace treaty, otherwise it would have been signed already.
However, according to Mirzoyan, this does not mean that we should give up, but on the contrary, despite the challenges, we must persevere in our efforts. "We really want to establish a peace treaty in the South Caucasus and open all borders and communications. We do not need to look at everything through rose-colored glasses, but we also do not need to be overly pessimistic," he noted. The Armenian Foreign Ministry head also assured that the topic of enclaves is not currently under discussion. However, he refused to disclose the location where the border delimitation process with Azerbaijan will resume. He mentioned that he would prioritize addressing less complex issues first, leaving the more challenging ones for a later stage, with decisions to be made by the commissions. He called on the commissions to take the necessary time to thoroughly consider all issues. When asked about the unavailability of the commission regulations in Russian or English on Azerbaijani websites, the minister explained that the regulations were initially agreed upon in Russian, then translated into Armenian and Azerbaijani, with the Armenian translation reviewed in Azerbaijan, and vice versa. He added that he had not verified whether these documents are available on Azerbaijani platforms.
