ArmInfo. A carpet woven by Armenian orphans in the Ghazir orphanage in Lebanon in the 1920s was donated to the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. This was reported by the Armenian weekly newspaper "Agos", published in Istanbul.
According to the source, the donor of the carpet was Dr. Vahram Shemmasyan, a lecturer at California State University, who purchased it at an open electronic auction. It is noted that the carpet was woven in a carpet factory founded in 1923 by the Swiss Jacob Kunzler, director of the "orphanage for girls" in Ghazir. "He was called the 'Father of Armenian Orphans' for his dedication to helping Armenian orphans and people in difficult situations. The carpet features floral patterns using the traditions of the Isfahan school," Agos newspaper reported.
