ArmInfo. Member of the National Assembly of Armenia Hakob Aslanyan has been expelled from the ruling Civil Contract party. The decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the party's board chaired by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
As noted in the party's statement, Aslanyan was expelled from the party due to a breach of discipline. Also, during the meeting, the candidacies of Artur Galstyan for the post of Chairman of the Board of the Charentsavan Territorial Organization and Edgar Parvanyan for the post of Chairman of the Board of the Aparan Territorial Organization were approved.
At the meeting, the applications of new members to join the party were approved.
On December 12, the head of the country's ruling Civil Contract faction, Hayk Konjoryan, announced the exclusion of MP Hakob Aslanyan from the faction. "The faction made a unanimous decision to exclude Hakob Aslanyan due to a serious disciplinary violation, as well as due to behavior that is completely incompatible with the values and political course of the Civil Contract party," Konjoryan said in a statement.
A day earlier, on December 11, Hakob Aslanyan announced that he was suspending his participation in the faction for a month. The reason for this was the investigation into his colleague Hovik Agazaryan. That same evening, Aslanyan changed his mind, making a statement in which he called his decision to freeze his participation in the faction a mistake. However, Armenian media drew attention to the fact that the text of the statement was sent to the disgraced MP by the Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
Aslanyan decided not to comment on the issue of his expulsion from the faction.
