ArmInfo. Armenia's suspension of its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is a huge mistake. Yerevan has always received a lot of help from Moscow and the members of the organization. This opinion was expressed in an interview with TASS by Nikolai Bordyuzha, who served as the CSTO Secretary General from 2003 to 2016.
"I believe that it is Armenia's sovereign right to participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization or to leave it. They determine what kind of security system Armenia will have, it is the top political leadership (who decides). If they believe that it will be more convenient for them to pursue their security policy, then this is their right. I believe that this is a colossal mistake, based primarily on absolutely unreliable data," Bordyuzha said. "And when the highest political leadership (of Armenia) says that they did not receive any help from Russia, that it was almost Russia that was preparing all these coups, that there was no help from the CSTO, this is absolutely not true," he added.
