ArmInfo. The authorities of Azerbaijan have once again demanded the closure of the European Union civil mission's activities on the borders of Armenia.
According to the APA agency, Hikmet Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, told journalists that the EU mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border should be completed. He said that the Azerbaijani side does not see the necessity for a third party to be involved in the delimitation process, which is carried out under conditions of mutual understanding and peace: "We do not see a necessity to deploy any EU mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The mission's activities should be completed. The deployment of the mission was agreed upon in Prague with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron, Charles Michel, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Initially, the mission was intended to be short-term.
However, we see that this mission is becoming permanent, with its composition and mandate territory expanding. We do not see any necessity for a third party to participate in the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is carried out under conditions of mutual understanding and peace. We do not believe that the EU mission contributes to strengthening peace in the region, rather, it is a cause for concern," the assistant to the Azerbaijani leader said.
