ArmInfo. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Armenia's desire to withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is a sovereign one and the organization is not closing its doors to Yerevan. "No document on Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO has been received. We hear all these talks. The Prime Minister of Armenia has addressed and extensively discussed this topic in parliament. We are not imposing anything on anyone. But we are convinced that it is in Armenia's security interests to use CSTO membership to the fullest extent. If a decision is made, which he speaks of as a foregone conclusion, it will be the sovereign right of the current Armenian leadership," he said after the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, as quoted by RIA Novosti. "Russia and other CSTO members have not taken, and do not intend to take, any actions that would be perceived as closing the door to Yerevan," the minister said.
