ArmInfo. Belarus aims to strengthen peaceful and mutually beneficial relations with Armenia, which remains one of Minsk's key trade and economic partners. This was stated by the Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia Alexander Konyuk on Desember 4 during an official reception dedicated to the National Unity Day of Belarus.
As the Ambassador recalled, Armenian-Belarusian diplomatic relations were established in June 1993. "Currently, an Armenian Apostolic Church is being built in Minsk, which will become an iconic object and a symbol of the centuries-old friendship of the Belarusian and Armenian peoples," Alexander Konyuk emphasized.
A photo exhibition reflecting the 30-year path of independent Belarus was also presented at the event. The exposition included the best works of a photojournalist of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, capturing the country's significant achievements over the past three decades in the fields of economics, agriculture, industry, culture, education, science and healthcare. As the Ambassador of Belarus recalled, the country is among the world leaders in the export of trucks, tractors, combines and road construction equipment.
"Every third quarry dump truck in the world is a BelAZ, listed in the Guinness Book of Records," the Ambassador recalled.
The Belarusian diplomat concluded his speech with the words of the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko: "Our common task is to increase the potential and glory of our native land through dialogue and mutual understanding, while preserving its identity and international authority."
During the event, a poem by the Belarusian poet Maxim Bogdanovich "Slutsk Weavers" was read, and then the President of the All-Armenian Writers' Union Abgar Apinyan read his own translation of this Belarusian poem in Armenian.
The program of the event also included a festive concert with the participation of members of the Belarusian community. The official reception was also attended by the Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin and the head of the border department of the FSB of the Russian Federation Roman Golubitsky.
