ArmInfo. The ruling Civil Contract faction in Armenia will hold a meeting on October 4, during which the issue of removing Hovik Agazaryan from the faction will be discussed.
The head of the faction, Hayk Konjoryan, told journalists about this today. According to him, Agazaryan himself was informed about the upcoming meeting early in the morning, but today he himself announced his withdrawal from the faction from the rostrum of the National Assembly. Let us recall that the day before, the board of the Civil Contract party expelled the deputy from its ranks with the wording "for leaking confidential information of state and party importance, as well as for gross violations of ethical standards."
Commenting on this wording, Konjaryan noted that Agazaryan spoke on issues related to national security at parliamentary sessions and in a narrow circle, thereby violating the provisions of the Law on State Secrets. Having the right to familiarize himself with classified documents as an MP, Agazaryan voiced this information. Konjaryan refused to give specific examples, but noted that some of Agazaryan's statements appeared in the press. In addition, as the head of the faction noted, given the secrecy of the documents, he does not have the right to voice a number of examples. The head of the faction did not rule out that law enforcement agencies will deal with this issue.
Earlier, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope in an interview with Public Television that the MP would listen to his call to resign his parliamentary mandate, which, however, did not follow from Agazaryan. Pashinyan recalled that the parliamentarian was involved in a scandal related to the former head of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan.
