ArmInfo. As part of his working visit to The Hague, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with his counterpart from the Netherlands, Caspar Velkamp.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian MFA, the interlocutors touched upon the steps aimed at expanding the bilateral agenda between Armenia and the Netherlands, highlighting, on one hand, the solid foundation of cooperation established in recent years, and, on the other, the willingness to further deepen the partnership through joint efforts. The main areas with potential for further development of cooperation were discussed. The parties discussed the prospects for deepening the partnership between Armenia and the EU. Mirzoyan noted that the Netherlands is an important partner for Armenia in advancing cooperation with the EU, based on shared democratic values. The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Netherlands exchanged views on regional developments. In this regard, Mirzoyan presented the efforts being made to establish sustainable peace in the South Caucasus, including the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Armenian Minister emphasized Armenia's clearly expressed political will to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mirzoyan also met with Paivi Kaukoronta, the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation among member states to ensure the effectiveness of the International Criminal Court. It was emphasized that in the current difficult period full of challenges, a strong commitment to upholding international law, ensuring the rule of law, and supporting the activities of the Court, is more important than ever. Accordingly, the priorities of Armenia's cooperation with the ICC were touched upon. Ararat Mirzoyan and Paivi Kaukoranta exchanged views on the potential role of international justice mechanisms in ensuring lasting peace. Regional developments were also discussed at the meeting.
