ArmInfo. The Embassy of Armenia in Damascus has opened a hotline (+963 96 000 36 22) to provide support to local Armenians who are facing difficult situation due to attacks by terrorist groups. According to a statement from the Armenian Embassy in Syria, its currently impossible to evacuate anyone.
"We call on the Armenian population of Aleppo and surrounding areas to refrain from moving and completely exclude attempts to leave the city. Those compatriots who have applied for Armenian citizenship but have not yet received their passports, as well as Syrian citizens of Armenian origin who wish to leave for Armenia, can contact the RA embassies in Damascus or Beirut to obtain permits (visas) for simplified entry into Yerevan.
At present, the lists of processed passports are being finalized. Some cases are still in the registration process and are in Armenia. We are looking for ways to arrange the delivery of completed passports to their owners. Once the situation partially improves, the consulate will contact the recipients with details on where and how they can collect their passports. The Consul General of Armenia in Aleppo is currently based at the RA embassy in Damascus and is working in emergency mode," the statement runs.
