ArmInfo. The world perceives us as a nation of martyrs. This statement was made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on December 3 in the parliament during preliminary discussions of the draft state budget for 2025.
According to the head of the RA Cabinet, the state budget is an integral part of the family budget of every resident of Armenia. : Therefore, we must all come to the realization of the fact that the budget of the Republic of Armenia is our collective, family budget. And this is the most important attribute, property of statehood," he pointed out.
about the state and statehood, the Prime Minister noted that for long-term planning of the strategic vision for the development of Armenia, it is important to understand how the world perceives the RA. Thus, summing up his thoughts and conclusions made over the past 6.5 years (Pashinyan became the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia in May 2018, after the "velvet revolution" - ed.), the Armenian Prime Minister makes, in his words, the inevitable conclusion, "the average image of Armenia in the world can be formulated as follows - the world perceives us as a nation of martyrs."
In this regard, Pashinyan pointed out, the most important mission of the government he leads is to overcome the status of a martyr nation. And the best way to overcome the status of a martyr nation, as the Prime Minister previously believed, is to form the nation-army formula, he added. At the same time, Pashinyan is not sure today that the formula is correct, since the second fits into the logic of the first.
"In addition, the formula generates many other nation-armies against you," he emphasized, noting that this does not cancel the desire to form a strong army. Nikol Pashinyan once again noted that it is important for Armenia to observe and protect its interests only within the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Armenia. The state must limit itself to internationally approved and adopted laws, he noted. The widespread violation of internationally accepted rules does not mean that Armenia should follow this path, on the contrary, the Republic of Armenia should position itself as a country that protects international law even under these conditions. In this context, having a strong army must be a justifiable agenda designed to serve the above-mentioned ideas, he concluded.
