ArmInfo. The Ambassador of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha handed over a new batch of expensive medicines "Kelfer" to the R. Yolyan Hematology and Oncology Center of the Ministry of Health of Armenia for the treatment of the hereditary blood disease - thalassemia.
This disease is characterized by a violation of hemoglobin synthesis. In Armenia, about 130 people suffer from thalassemia. Patients must regularly take the drug "Kelfer" throughout their lives.
As part of the visit to the R. Yolyan Center, the Ambassador of India, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Health Armen Gasparyan and Director of the Center Hayk Grigoryan, got acquainted with the conditions in the medical institution, achievements. Then followed discussions, where the parties considered new areas of Armenian-Indian cooperation in the field of healthcare.
According to the Indian Embassy in Armenia, the manufacturer of the medicines "Kelfer" is the Indian pharmaceutical company Cipla. It was founded in 1935 and carries out the development, chemical synthesis and production of more than 1500 names of finished medicines in various forms. These are antitumor, bronchodilator, chemotherapeutic, antiretroviral agents, corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, antibiotics, antidepressants, etc. The company operates in 150 countries around the world.
