ArmInfo.The ground force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has kicked off a joint military drill with the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in northwest Iran. As reported by IRNA, citing the IRGC, the four-day drill, named "Araks Joint Exercises", began on Sunday morning. The drill, taking place in the border district of Aslan-Duz in Ardabil Province, involves special forces of the IRGC and the Azerbaijan's Army.
It is noted that the exercises are aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and their bilateral cooperation on fighting illegally- organized armed groups. The exercise is also aimed at protecting security of joint borders, promoting military capabilities and expanding defense cooperation at tactical and operational levels, in accordance with the agreements reached in line with common interests of the two sides.
