ArmInfo. Azerbaijan has destroyed the 19th-century Tandzatap Church in the Kovsakan region of occupied Artsakh. This was reported by Caucasus Heritage Watch, which supported the statement with satellite images.
"Satellite images (taken from October 5, 2023 to April 30, 2024). As world leaders gather in Baku for the COP29 summit to advance solutions for the future, they must also call on Azerbaijan to protect the past, in particular the cultural heritage of Artsakh Armenians expelled from their homes," writes Caucasus Heritage Watch.
The organization also recalled that in a preliminary ruling from December 2021, the International Court of Justice ordered Azerbaijan to "prevent and punish acts of vandalism and desecration affecting Armenian cultural heritage." It should be noted that almost daily there are reports of the destruction of Armenian heritage in occupied Artsakh. Azerbaijan, with impunity, against the backdrop of the tacit encouragement of the international community, erases the Armenian trace from the occupied territories of Artsakh.
