The renowned Armenian brand Artuyt presented a collection of clothes and silk scarves at Milan Fashion Week, inspired by the works of the great director, artist, screenwriter and collage artist Sergei Parajanov. The show was held as part of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov.
During a press conference on November 8, Arevik Arakelyan, the founder and director of Artuyt, mentioned that alongside the fashion show, a screening of Parajanov's film was organized as part of the events in Milan. Prior to the screening, a short lecture on the life and work of the director was given. The coordination of these events was handled by Karen Avetisyan, the artistic director of the Golden Apricot film festival. The events took place at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan, known for its collection of Renaissance and Neo-Renaissance art and interiors.
According to Arakelyan, the event served to further showcase Sergei Parajanov and his work, for some attendees finding it a revelatory. "Parajanov surprised the Italian audience," the head of Artuyt noted. She expressed gratitude to the late Zaven Sargsyan, founder of the Sergei Parajanov Museum. It was thanks to his faith that Artuyt was able to present its first scarf collection at Milan Fashion Week 7 years ago, inspired by Parajanov's collages.
In turn, the founder of Emerging Talents Milano, Tariel Basharyan, noted that due to the successful implementation of the events in Milan, they will also be held in Yerevan. Specifically, a special team from Italy will arrive in Armenia from November 13 to 17 to carry out the events. , noted Basharyan. Additionally, he reported that a digital exhibition dedicated to Parajanov's art was also held in Italy. It was prepared by nine Italian specialists and one Armenian. The Italian masters were not previously familiar with Parajanov's work. However, they worked with great enthusiasm, as each day brought them incredible discoveries of something new and amazing.
Note that Artuyt is known in our country primarily for its mission to popularize Armenian art both within Armenia and internationally. Artuyt makes silk scarves using motifs from the works of Armenian artists, collaborating with museums in Armenia, as well as with artists and their descendants. The designer and the entire creative team of Artuyt worked on the collection that was presented in Milan. Note that that the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov is included in the UNESCO Calendar of Anniversaries of Eminent Personalities and Important Events for 2024-2025.
