ArmInfo.Tehran is against any geopolitical changes and corridor logic. Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani stated this on November 7 in a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of an expert forum entitled "Armenia - Iran: the process of cooperation and new prospects", touching upon the issue of providing an extraterritorial corridor through Syunik to Azerbaijan.
The diplomat once again recalled Iran's clear and unchanging position on this issue. "Tehran is in favor of opening transport communications in the region, but taking into account the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia," he added.
Touching upon the Armenian-Iranian bilateral relations, Sobhani emphasized that they have a solid foundation.
"We are neighbors who have lived side by side for centuries and have good neighborly ties. I do not think that anyone will be able to take steps against the interests of our countries," the Iranian ambassador summed up. It should be noted that after the occupation of Artsakh, Azerbaijan, by threat of force, is trying to obtain an extraterritorial corridor through the sovereign territory of Armenia that will connect the Republic of Azerbaijan with its exclave Nakhichevan.
