ArmInfo. The ruling Civil Contract party does not have the issue of dismissing Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security, on its agenda. This was stated by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan in an interview with journalists on November 5.
"No, such an issue is not on the agenda. But we are free to discuss all issues," Papoyan said.
When asked whether there is a case against him, the minister replied: "I cannot say, such issues are handled by the party's control committee, which submits its opinion to the board, which then makes a decision."
Earlier, the media were circulating rumors that a group of Civil Contract party members wanted to come up with an initiative to remove Andranik Kocharyan from the post of Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security. It is noted that the group demanding Kocharyan's resignation from his post is growing - here is the prime minister's brother-in-law, MP Hrachya Hakobyan, and the Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, and the Vice-Mayor of Yerevan Armen Pambukhchyan, and MP Vilen Gabrielyan and others. However, the participants of the meeting did not come to a specific decision.
On October 15, a verbal altercation took place in parliament between the head of the Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan and State Duma deputy Hovik Agazaryan, which almost escalated into a fight. Agazaryan accused Kyaramyan of pressuring businessmen. In response, the head of the Investigative Committee stated that he had been asked twice for Agazaryan's son, and there was an element of corruption here. According to the media, Andranik Kocharyan intends to achieve the resignation of the heads of the security agencies and is trying to do this with the help of other deputies. After the conflict, the speaker of parliament Alen Simonyan said that Andranik Kocharyan had conducted the meeting incorrectly, and the conflict could have been avoided. Secretary of the Civil Contract faction Artur Hovhannisyan said that there is a disciplinary proceeding related to the public hearings (the altercation - Kyaramyan-Agazaryan), which should be considered by the party board.
