Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the <3+3> platform meeting (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia - Russia, Turkey, Iran) in Istanbul, as announced during a briefing by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"On October 17-18, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry will visit Istanbul to participate in the third meeting of the 3+3 regional consultative platform," Zakharova stated at Wednesday's press briefing. According to Zakharova, the meetings will focus on the situation in the South Caucasus.
<On the sidelines of the event, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry will also hold bilateral meetings>, Zakharova noted. According to her, the Russian side sees this format as "an effective mechanism for coordinating the efforts of regional leaders to achieve lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and the Middle East. It also provides an opportunity to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy, transport, logistics, culture, and humanitarian areas."
