ArmInfo.Yerevan does not see any political will from Baku to sign a peace treaty. This was stated by the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ararat Mirzoyan at the Warsaw Security Forum on October 2.
According to him, today there is a real opportunity to close the chapter on the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and open a new chapter of peace and cooperation in the region. However, Mirzoyan stated that Azerbaijan continues to refuse to sign the peace treaty, instead putting forward additional new demands.
"We see that they simply do not want to sign the treaty. There is no agreement in the world that would regulate all the issues between the parties. We propose to sign the agreed part of the document, and then negotiate on other issues. Unfortunately, we do not see any political will from Azerbaijan in this matter," Mirzoyan said. At the same time, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also shared his concerns about Baku's plans. "There are serious concerns that Azerbaijan has far-reaching military plans against Armenia and its territories. For example, Azerbaijan currently uses the narrative of "Western Azerbaijan", encompassing almost the entire territory of Armenia by this term. Baku assures that this is not a territorial claim, but the impression is different," Mirzoyan said.
Touching upon the situation in the Middle East, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that Yerevan is concerned about the latest events (the escalation of relations between Israel and other countries in the Middle East - ed.). "We in Armenia do our best to achieve peace in our region and here we see that some other countries in larger neighborhoods strike each other with missiles. O of course, we are concerned," Mirzoyan said, expressing hope that the conflict in the Middle East will itd soonest possible settlement.
