ArmInfo. The position of the Minister of Justice of Armenia should be occupied by a representative of the ruling Civil Contract party in the country. This was stated to journalists by the member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Arpi Davoyan on October 1, commenting on the resignation of the current head of the Ministry of Justice Grigor Minasyan.
According to the deputy, the members of parliament from the ruling faction, having organized the collection of signatures for Minasyan's resignation, only fulfilled the control functions assigned to them. "The concerns of the deputies did not arise today or yesterday, this is a rather long process. For this reason, it is not true to say that the decision to resign Minasyan was made yesterday," Davoyan said, refusing to provide the parliamentarians' justifications.
In turn, another member of the RA National Assembly, Lusine Badalyan, called on journalists not to link Grigor Minasyan's relationship with his brother, the son-in-law of the third President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, as a reason for his dismissal. According to her, it is only about the quality of the work done by the minister. "Grigor Minasyan is no different from other members of the government. I personally have grounds to demand reports on the planned and implemented programs from all members of the government, whether they have fulfilled all the promises they made to the people. In other words, there is no talk of any personal problems," Badalyan said, recalling that Grigor Minasyan was dismissed from the post of Minister of Justice in accordance with his statement. She added that if certain projects are not implemented, then, accordingly, a demand for responsibility should be made. Today, according to Badalyan, there are problems not only in the Ministry of Justice. "I would like the heads of all departments to know that all available control mechanisms are applied in the National Assembly," said Lusine Badalyan.
Earlier a group of MPs from the ruling Civil Contract faction began collecting signatures for an appeal to the head of government demanding the resignation of Grigor Minasyan. To collect signatures, it was necessary to collect 24 signatures. The dissatisfaction of the parliamentarians was caused by the fact that the government should include a person from the ruling team. The MPs also took into account the fact that the current Minister of Justice is the brother of the former ambassador to the Vatican Mikael Minasyan, the son-in-law of the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The situation was aggravated by the fact that Sirvard Gevorgyan, a classmate of the daughter of the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was recently appointed to the post of deputy minister. The latter, by the way, left her post after the ensuing discussions. Let us recall that Grigor Minasyan's candidacy for the post of the RA Minister of Justice was previously recommended by the Chairman of the RA Supreme Judicial Council Karen Andreasyan, who maintains friendly relations with the current head of the Ministry of Justice. Armenian media reported that in the event of Minasyan's resignation, Andreasyan would also submit a petition for dismissal from his post.
