ArmInfo. During his speech at the Armenian Embassy in Paris, newly appointed French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot touched upon the blocking of the Lachin corridor and the deportation of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh through the use of military force against Artsakh.
"France forgets nothing: neither the violation of international law and the use of unjustified force, despite the ongoing negotiation process and the existence of paths to peace, nor the immeasurable human suffering caused by these actions," the French Foreign Minister noted.
The Minister added that France will continue to provide humanitarian support to the forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian government and the Armenian people, who are with them today.
Continuing his speech, the Minister reiterated France's commitment to continue its efforts to protect the right of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to return to their homeland and to protect the Armenian cultural and religious heritage, which were also reflected in the decision of the International Court of Justice.
Touching upon the ties of special friendship, brotherhood and solidarity that unite the two peoples, the Minister reiterated France's unequivocal commitment to act for the benefit of Armenia's sovereignty, sustainability and strengthening of democracy.
"France will continue its efforts to establish a just and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of the two states and for the benefit of all the peoples of the region, calling for the earliest possible signing of a peace treaty," Barrot said. In his speech, he emphasized the unprecedented progress recorded in Armenian-French relations in recent years, including in areas of strategic importance, noting that France will continue its efforts to further strengthen this cooperation.
